Outlier, a platform owned and operated by Scale AI, is seeking English speakers to contribute to the training and refinement of cutting‑edge AI systems on a freelance 1099 basis. The role is fully remote, flexible, and paid on a per‑hour basis, with rates contingent on location.

Responsibilities

• Work from a real user perspective to create natural, high‑quality data that reflects real usage.
• Review, compare, and rank responses generated by large language models, focusing on usefulness, clarity, and reasoning quality.
• Contribute across a range of projects based on your skills, interests, and experience.

Qualifications

• Analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to craft thoughtful prompts and evaluate nuanced AI responses.
• Strong written communication – clear, structured writing to explain decisions and articulate why one response is stronger than another.
• Attention to detail and precision; consistently follow guidelines and notice subtle differences.
• Nice to have: background in literature, creative writing, history, philosophy, theology, or similar disciplines.
• Prior experience in writing or editorial roles, such as content strategy, technical writing, or editing.

Pay & Logistics

• Base Rate: US $16.07, GB £13.30, CA $20.50, AU $26.25, IE €14.60, NZ $26.00
• Bonuses: Additional pay available based on project performance.
