Job description
Are you a data guru?

We’re looking for someone who lives, breathes and loves data. We’re looking for someone who can extract, ingest, cleanse, combine, model, wrangle + untangle data for our clients. With a public sector‑loaded CV. We’re looking for a super curious, hands‑on data engineering problem‑solver who loves a challenge. We help our public sector clients to unlock their data potential so they can achieve their goals faster than ever before – wanna join us?

We’re i3Data

We help public sector organisations unlock the full potential of data and AI – to streamline operations, reduce manual effort, and drive smarter decisions. We review, select, set up + support their data + AI tools. We specialise in public sector‑specific requirements. We were born in 2025 by combining the skills and experience from DATA3 and i3Works, we have ambitious growth plans and we’re growing every day. We need your help to grow our business even further.

What you’ll do…
  • Set up data platforms, including data warehouses, lakehouses, databases and ETL tools
  • Extract, transform & load data from a variety of databases and systems
  • Combine, cleanse and run ‘health checks’ on the data
  • Transfer & store data in a robust and secure way in line with industry best practice and regulatory requirements
  • Refine & ensure accuracy of data interfaces provided by third parties
  • Create data visualisations to show trends, patterns & anomalies
  • Present and communicate processes, insights & findings to colleagues and clients
  • Produce answers in days, not months, and work by exploratory analysis and rapid iteration
  • Share knowledge with the wider team so that we can improve the way we work with our clients

We are Bristol based but we work flexibly based on our client needs, this can often mean working from home but can also mean travel to our client's offices.

What we need from you…
  • Public sector experience, ideally with organisations such as HMRC, Home Office, MoD.
  • Security clearance or prepared to complete a security clearance process.
  • Demonstrable experience from working in data engineering roles.
  • Significant experience working with large datasets and multiple data feeds.
  • Confident in data ELT/ETL, data cleansing, modelling and data visualisation.
  • Experienced working with Azure and the Microsoft stack.
  • Confident developer of Python and SQL solutions.
  • Significant experience with data warehouse/lakehouse technologies such as Databricks/Fabric.
  • Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, presentation, written, listening & verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in using source control systems (e.g. Git) to manage code, collaborate on development, and follow professional branching and versioning workflows.
  • A deep understanding of data engineering best‑practice (e.g. robust data pipelines, security and networking, handling of sensitive data)
  • Experience collaborating with clients to understand business requirements and build data engineering solutions tailored to their needs.

This is NOT an entry-level role…we need someone who has made loads of mistakes, so that they can share their experiences with others. So, if this is a 1st or 2nd role for you, please don’t apply.
