Job summary

Applications are invited for a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced assistant psychologist with a background in research, audit or improvement to work with the Ealing Mental Health Integrated Network Teams (MINT) to increase, improve and embolden mental health support within the West London area. These roles will sit in the community mental health (MINT) teams across the borough of Ealing.

This role will involve leading on data analysis and continuous improvement alongside supporting the delivery of care for those clients waiting for a therapeutic intervention. This role therefore requires postgraduate competencies and experience in this area. The ratio of analyst to clinical work is roughly 70:30. Before commencing in the role, there will be an induction which will cover the key skills needed to undertake the role.

Main responsibilities

Clinical

• Provide protocol based assessments of risk to self and others and respond to client risk as appropriate and as part of this listen to and respond to the immediate needs of the service use and in doing so promote choice, control and empowerment
• Undertake patient-centred interviews which identify areas where the person wishes to see change and which appropriate low‑intensity intervention would address their difficulties.
• Provide a range of high-volume low‑intensity psychological treatments based on evidence‑based literature and research to support best practice in clinical work. Interventions may include guided self‑help, and treatment might be individual or in psychoeducational groups.
• Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the overall number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.
• Monitor treatment and client progress and provide appropriate feedback to client, GP and referrer.

Person Specification

Qualifications (Essential)

• A degree in psychology (minimum 2.1) providing GBR

Experience (Essential)

• Experience working within a stepped care model in primary care, and following established evidence‑based treatment protocols
• Experience of working with business information platforms and extrapolating key information
• Substantial experience delivering low intensity, high volume self‑help interventions to people with common mental health problems in a mental health setting
• Experience within a Service where agreed targets are in place, demonstrating individual and team clinical outcomes and clinical activity.
• Experience offering low intensity interventions and/or DBT/CBT informed work
• Experience working in a multi‑disciplinary mental health team.

Desirable

• Experience of routine clinical outcome monitoring
• Experience of working with psycho‑educational groups, and/or outreach initiatives.

Knowledge / Skills (Essential)
