This Modern Apprentice role is based in the Developing the Young Workforce team within the Skills Division of the Directorate for Lifelong Learning and Skills within the Scottish Government. Our team works to ensure young people across Scotland have the support they need to enter and progress in employment.

LLS Directorate is based in Glasgow (AQ) however, the successful applicant may also be based in an Edinburgh office. You should expect to be in office/ with stakeholders in line with expectations of the hybrid working policy (currently no less than 40% of working time) including for weekly team and unit meetings on a Wednesday.
Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role. From October 2025, the Scottish Government will require staff in hybrid-compatible roles to work in-person 40% of the time, either in an office or other agreed work location. Successful candidates must complete the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), before they can be appointed. BPSS is comprised of four main pre-employment checks – Identity, Right to work, Employment History and a Criminal Record check (unspent convictions).
