About the role

To be responsible for the management and operational service delivery of y Gaer, Ystradgynlais and Hay libraries and to develop and deliver a dynamic and progressive service to residents, community groups and visitors. Duties will focus on creating and implementing an excellent customer experience; creatively engaging customers with a range of digital and physical resources in ways that encourage a love of history, culture, reading, knowledge, and lifelong learning.

About you

• Experience of working in a public library
• Experience of managing staff and premises
• Experience of using ICT and confidence in adapting to changing technologies at work
• A qualification in Library & Information Studies at degree or post-graduate level, or CILIP Chartership and relevant library management experience
• Possess a full driving license and the ability to travel around Powys. Travel between sites is required.

What you will do

• To be responsible for the management and operational service delivery of y Gaer, Ystradgynlais and Hay libraries.
• To be responsible for the adequate staffing and cover of all facilities, including coordinating leave and staffing rotas. To recruit and train new staff.
• To be responsible for ensuring that building maintenance requirements are logged and resolved.
• To be responsible for the security of the buildings, maintaining an up-to-date list of key-holders and ensuring that emergency plans and procedures are in place and understood by all staff. To act as a key holder for buildings as appropriate.
• To actively promote the use of cultural facilities at all times, acting as an ambassador for Cultural Services with particular reference to Climate and Environment.
• To work with colleagues in the wider Cultural Services team to ensure service delivery is consistent and can react positively to service demand.
