Job Summary

To manage one of the Imaging Modality services on a day‑to‑day basis, undertake imaging, train other radiographers and students, and provide line‑management support to the Radiology Department.

Co‑ordinate and, where reasonable, meet waiting‑time targets for the area.

Lead on clinical governance and equipment maintenance for the modality.

Carry out clinical work while maintaining high standards for oneself and other staff.

Manage the multi‑disciplinary team within the area.

Deputise and support the Imaging Site Clinical Lead Radiographer.

Main Duties of the Job
  1. Lead and manage the CT radiology department to meet all relevant targets.
  2. Lead on all matters related to the modality, maintaining agreed standards of professional and technical competence.
  3. Collaborate with the other CT superintendent and the Radiology Management team to maintain comprehensive expertise in the modality.
  4. Work with designated Consultant Radiologists to establish and comply with agreed protocols, implement new services and procedures, and train staff accordingly.
  5. Communicate complex information to patients, gaining their cooperation and understanding, especially in stressful situations or where communication barriers exist.
  6. Be aware of the emotional needs of patients attending for imaging services.
  7. Collaborate with MDT professionals when performing diagnostic tests on sedated adults and children.
  8. Attend to patients’ personal needs in the department, ensuring infection control considerations are observed.
  9. Assist patients with transfer from beds, trolleys, and wheelchairs as required.
