Job Summary

Our Crown Court Clerks are essential to ensure Crown Court hearings run smoothly. They speak confidently in court, liaise with judges and participants, and produce accurate, timely court documents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Speak publicly in the courtroom and confidently liaise with judges, defense, prosecution, media, members of the public and more regarding complex and sensitive matters.
  • Produce exact, time‑critical documentation, taking verdicts, conducting arraignments, producing court orders and recording hearing outcomes accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure smooth running of all Crown Court sittings daily, intervening in court when required and maximising judicial sitting time.
  • Adapt to new systems and technologies.

Working Arrangements

Standard full‑time working hours are 37 hours per week. The MoJ offers flexible working arrangements and part‑time, flexible, job‑sharing patterns where appropriate.
