Qualifications

  • No previous experience in the funeral industry is required as full training will be provided.
  • Travel to other sites will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out cremation of the deceased in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Arrange Service Hall and other areas for services to the highest standards.
  • Attend and oversee services liaising with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ensure identification, storage, and disposal of ashes are documented.
  • Support team operations, including care and cleaning of premises.
  • Promote the Crematorium and End of life services in the community.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Crematorium Operative.

Standard core hours are Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00. However, depending on business needs, you may be required to work between Monday and Saturday, within the hours of 06:00 to 20:00.

You’ll be an integral part of the team, taking an active role in dealing with members of the public, clients and third parties ensuring all aspects of day-to-day activities at the Crematorium run smoothly. This role can be physically demanding and will involve manual handling and using machinery and equipment.

What to expect…
  • Carrying out the cremation of the deceased in accordance with statutory requirements safely and operating appropriate equipment in line with set guidelines and training.
  • Arranging the Service Hall and other areas for services, ensuring they are prepared to the highest standard possible in accordance with pre‑agreed arrangements.
  • Attending and overseeing services and liaising with Funeral Directors, Clergy/Celebrants, the bereaved and members of the public before, during and after services.
  • Ensuring the identification, storage, and final disposal of Ashes are undertaken and documented appropriately.
  • Supporting the wider team to ensure the smooth running of every aspect of operations on site, including undertaking basic care, cleaning and maintenance of buildings, grounds, and ancillary equipment.
  • Being proactive in community activities to promote the Crematorium and End of life services.
