GSL Education are currently seeking dynamic and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work in schools across Nottingham starting from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced support staff to step into a classroom setting and inspire young learners.

About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor (CS), you will manage a classroom in the absence of the regular teacher. You will be responsible for delivering pre-set work, ensuring student engagement, and maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor (CS):

• Supervise classes during teacher absences across various subjects
• Deliver pre-prepared lessons and ensure students remain on task
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
• Answer student questions related to the lesson content
• Provide feedback to teachers regarding class performance and behaviour
• Support the wider school community as needed, including break or lunch duties
• Create a safe and respectful classroom atmosphere
• Build positive relationships with students and staff
• Assist with administrative and general support tasks when required
• Adapt quickly to different school environments and year groups

Candidate Requirements:

• Previous experience working with young people (school, tutoring, sports coaching, youth work, Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor,etc.)
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree-qualified or equivalent, desirable but not essential
• CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Support Teaching or similar is desirable but not mandatory.
• A confident and assertive personality
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage a classroom and encourage positive behaviour
• Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
