Job description

We are seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a secondary school. This role is vital in supporting teaching and learning by supervising classes in the absence of the classroom teacher, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a Cover Supervisor:

  • Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absence.

  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and ensure students remain on task.

  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.

  • Support students with their learning where appropriate.

  • Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil progress and behaviour.

  • Assist with administrative tasks and cover duties as required.

Ideal Cover Supervisor:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage groups of young people effectively.

  • Flexible, reliable, and able to adapt quickly to different situations.

  • Previous experience working with secondary-age students (desirable, but not essential).

  • A good standard of education, with strong literacy and numeracy skills.

  • Must be able to drive.
