Job description

Job Title: Counterbalance Forklift Truck Driver- 12 month FTC- Start February 2026

Location: Leeds, UK

Reports to: Line Manager

Job Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Counterbalance Forklift Truck Driver to join our team in Leeds. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a counterbalance forklift to move, locate and relocate products within the warehouse and yard, supporting accurate stock control and timely dispatch of goods. Due to how bust they are you must be an experienced FLT driver. Also due to location, own transport essential to get to the site

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a counterbalance forklift to load, unload and move products and materials within the warehouse and yard.
  • Ensure all items are stored, stacked and secured correctly and safely.
  • Follow all health & safety procedures, company policies and site regulations when operating the forklift and working in the warehouse / yard.
  • Perform daily pre-use and safety checks on the forklift; promptly report any defects or maintenance issues to management.
  • Assist with inventory control, including stock counts, checks and accurate tracking of goods.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to maintain efficient workflow and timely dispatch of goods.
  • Maintain cleanliness, tidiness and organisation of the warehouse, yard and workstations, ensuring clear access routes at all times.
  • Take initiative to support wider warehouse tasks as required, within your level of training and competence.
General / Site Requirements
  • Keep any company vehicle or equipment in your care clean and well maintained.
  • Wear all required PPE and company uniform at all times while on site.
  • Ensure you are familiar with and abide by the Employee Handbook, Company Policies & Procedures and all relevant Risk Assessments associated with your duties.
  • Understand that this is not an exhaustive list of duties; responsibilities may be varied in line with business needs.
Schedule

Working hours: 07:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday.

Total weekly hours: 45 hours.

On the FLT for the majority of the shift, with limited off-truck duties as required.

Essential Requirements
  • Valid, in-date Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence / certification.
  • Previous experience operating a counterbalance forklift in a warehouse or industrial environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety and compliance with procedures.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy when handling and placing loads.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and strength to carry out manual handling tasks safely.
Preferred / Desirable
  • Experience using stock management or warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Good understanding of health & safety regulations relating to forklift operation and warehouse work.
  • Flexibility to cover alternative shifts or occasional weekends if required by the business.
Salary and Benefits

Salary: Competitive hourly rate of 13.13, dependent on experience.
