Role Definition

Our client, wholly owned by a global energy company, develops projects and provides expert engineering support worldwide.

The company has an integrated office in Basingstoke, UK, and is leading in the energy transition with decarbonised solutions like CCS, renewables, and hydrogen.

SmartWorking (Hybrid Working)

The client offers a SmartWorking policy allowing up to 12 days per month working remotely from home or a similar secure UK location, even during leave periods, averaging around 60% remote work.

Role and Main Responsibilities

We seek a Cost Estimator in Basingstoke. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing cost estimates for services, equipment, construction, and sub-contracted services based on technical specifications and bills of materials, collaborating with other departments for tender and cost info.
  • Drafting cost estimating methodology reports, including methodologies, data sources, inclusions, and exclusions.
  • Preparing Capital Expenditures Cost Estimates (CAPEX) aligned with engineering deliverables, company requirements, and CBS.
  • Conducting cost trend analysis, price and market analysis, and benchmarking.
  • Reviewing third-party and company estimates, analyzing submitted estimates, and performing estimate scaling and sensitivity analysis.
  • Standardising systems, procedures, and techniques for cost estimating, and analysing past cost data for proposals.
  • Working with the Job Manager to ensure price information aligns with management sanctions.

Candidate’s Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Experience in cost estimating for oil and gas projects, including upstream, midstream, offshore gas, and LNG, is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills.

Expected Duration

Minimum 12 months.
