About The Role

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Paralegal to support our well-regarded Corporate team in Southampton.

Our national Corporate & Commercial team is led by 20 Partners and has a presence in our Southampton, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Manchester, Taunton & London offices. In Southampton, you will be joining five Partners, and five additional fee-earners.

Day to day, you’ll be successful in this role by:

This is an opportunity to build experience in a range of different corporate transactions and related work acting on behalf of local, national and international businesses.

  • In this newly created position, your work will vary from day to day, but will include:
  • Assisting on corporate transactions including drafting and negotiating documents
  • Carrying out due diligence
  • Drafting board minutes, resolutions and other company documents;
  • Carrying out research
  • Carrying out company secretarial work, including dealing with company formations, filings and searches
  • Dealing with transaction post completion work
  • You will also have the opportunity to get involved in business development activities as a key member of the Corporate team as part of our friendly Southampton office.
  • Working under supervision, in addition to supporting on larger transactions, you will also be able to take responsibility for progressing simple transactions. You will have some client contact and as a fee earner you will be responsible for recording your chargeable time and contributing to the revenue of the team.
  • It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.
The role is right for you if:
  • You’ll need a strong intellect to succeed in this role, so we will be looking for a corresponding level of consistent academic achievement. You’ll also need to show us that you have initiative, drive and great organisational skills. The work requires self‑motivation, resilience and the ability to work to demanding deadlines.
  • We are looking for someone who has a keen interest in corporate and commercial law and is prepared to work hard to learn all the aspects of the role. Previous experience is not necessary.
  • You will relish helping others and be eager to learn. We expect you to be someone who takes pride in your work and who will provide a first class support service to the other fee earners and paying meticulous attention to detail in all of your work.
  • Finally, legal practice is about people and this is very much a team orientated role.
