Overview

Empowering through culinary skills. Cook, Train, Inspire. Langley is seeking a passionate and organised Cook Trainer to join our friendly team in Poole, Dorset. In this rewarding role, you'll combine your culinary expertise with your ability to mentor and inspire, helping residents and trainees develop practical cooking skills that enhance their independence and quality of life. You'll oversee kitchen operations, menu planning, and food preparation while ensuring compliance with hygiene, safety, and legislative standards.

This is a permanent, full-time position (35 hours per week across a 7 day rota).

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare well balanced and nutritious meals for the clients
  • Actively assess and manage risks to ensure a safe environment for staff, service users, and the public, while adhering to all relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Maintain high hygiene standards, ensure proper waste disposal, and oversee food purchasing, storage, preparation, cooking, and serving.
  • Plan menus collaboratively, minimize waste, liaise with suppliers for best value, and conduct regular stock audits to ensure proper rotation and removal of expired items.
  • Develop and implement training plans for residents and trainees, supervise their activities, record progress, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and project rules.
  • Manage training activities with a businesslike approach, aim for self-financing, and enforce security measures to maintain acceptable risk levels during kitchen operations.
