Overview

As a Control Room Manager, you will lead and support a dedicated team of operators, ensuring the safe and efficient management of the strategic M25 DBFO road network. This role offers the excitement of working in a fast-paced environment where every decision makes a real impact on the safety and performance of one of the UK's most important transport routes. With over 15 years remaining on this major project, the role provides long-term stability and career development. You\'ll be part of a supportive team where your expertise and leadership will help shape the future of road network operations.

What You\'ll Be Doing

As Control Room Manager, you\'ll be at the heart of operations, leading and supporting teams to keep the M25 DBFO network safe, efficient, and resilient. Every day will bring new challenges and the opportunity to make a real impact. You will:

  • Lead and support control room teams across multiple locations, coordinating resources to resolve incidents effectively and in line with policy.
  • Accurately receive, record, and share information to optimise safety and ensure timely, efficient responses.
  • Monitor CCTV, tunnel, and bridge safety systems, taking swift and appropriate action when alarms are raised.
  • Act as the vital link between the control room and senior management, ensuring clear communication and timely escalation of critical incidents.
  • Proactively manage and develop your team, setting goals, supporting welfare, leading appraisals, and ensuring training and development needs are met.
  • Maintain minimum staffing levels and ensure performance targets and contractual obligations are achieved.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and partners.
  • Support decision-making during winter maintenance and coordinate network responses.
  • Collect and report traffic and incident data on behalf of the M25 DBFO Co.
  • Operate internal and external IT systems, ensuring issues are reported via the correct channels.
Qualifications & Requirements

  • Confidence in operating and managing multiple IT systems simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of incident management command structures and escalation processes.
  • Understanding of transport and road network operations.
  • Eligibility to meet security clearance requirements.
  • Flexibility to work within a 24/7 shift pattern (e.g. 4-on, 4-off).
