Job summary

A leading renewable energy operator is seeking a Controls & Instrumentation Technician to support the maintenance and reliability of power generation assets across the North East region. The ideal candidate will have a recognized qualification in Electrical, Controls, or Instrumentation Engineering and experience in fault-finding. Qualifications

  • Recognised qualification in Electrical, Controls or Instrumentation Engineering (Apprenticeship, City & Guilds, ONC, BTEC/NVQ or similar).
  • Experience fault-finding on instrumentation and control systems.
  • Understanding of PLCs required.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine, reactive and preventative maintenance on controls and instrumentation.
  • Identify faults and repair instrumentation.
  • Support upkeep and troubleshooting of PLCs.
  • Monitor plant equipment for performance issues.

Salary & Benefits

Up to £45,000 + Bonus + Company Vehicle + Fuel Card

North East - Lincoln, Doncaster, Sheffield, Nottingham, Immingham + surrounding areas

SCINERGY Recruitment are seeking a field-based Controls & Instrumentation Technician to support the maintenance, reliability and performance of power generation and green energy assets across multiple sites in the North East region.

Our client is a leading operator within the renewable energy and low‑carbon power sector. This role is ideal for technicians confident in electrical, controls or instrumentation work who enjoy field‑based independence, problem‑solving and working with modern monitoring and automation systems.

Training will be provided for candidates with a bias towards electrical, control or instrumentation if they have the right attitude and willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine, reactive and preventative maintenance on controls and instrumentation across multiple sites
  • Identify faults and repair a range of instrumentation, including sensors for flow, pressure, temperature and level
  • Support the upkeep and troubleshooting of PLCs
  • Monitor plant equipment, highlighting performance issues before they lead to breakdowns
  • Complete service reports and update maintenance systems accurately
  • Work closely with other engineering teams to resolve site issues and share technical information
  • Oversee and guide contractors carrying out C&I or automation‑related work
  • Travel daily between regional sites
What We're Looking For
  • Recognised qualification in Electrical, Controls or Instrumentation Engineering (Apprenticeship, City & Guilds, ONC, BTEC/NVQ or similar)
  • Experience fault‑finding on instrumentation and control systems
  • Understanding of PLCs
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
  • Self‑motivated, safety‑focused and able to work independently
  • Full training will be provided for applicants with transferable skills and the right mindset
