Candidates should have an HNC in Civil Engineering, relevant experience in project management, and a commitment to ongoing professional development. Qualifications

Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Highways Engineer to help develop and oversee delivery of a wide range of projects from sustainable travel schemes to major road network projects in Manchester.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and ensure the successful delivery of diverse projects, including sustainable travel initiatives and major road network projects.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and preliminary designs for projects, from initial concept through to business case submission.
  • Ensure that design and construction activities adhere to approved plans and relevant legislation.
  • Request and analyse surveys, perform site investigations, conduct risk assessments, and compile pre-construction information.
  • Develop public consultation materials and participate in consultation events.
  • Prepare reports for Committee and Cabinet Members, along with supporting documentation.
  • Commission, review, and process temporary, experimental, and permanent traffic regulation orders.
  • Oversee junior staff assisting with these tasks.
What you need to succeed
  • HNC or similar level qualification in Civil Engineering or other relevant field plus evidence of continuing professional development
  • Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers or other relevant professional organisation or willingness to work towards such Membership
  • Driving licence
  • Working Knowledge of construction health and safety legislation and associated regulations relevant to highways, traffic and transportation schemes
  • Experience or willingness to learn use of AutoCAD and CAD standards
  • Experience or willingness to learn use of AutoTrack, Key Signs and Key Lines or similar software
