Job description

Principal Engineer - Contract - EC&I - Staffordshire - Outside IR35 - 6-month contract - £500-£585/day - Hybrid

Must have a British passport for security clearance. Principal or Lead Engineers applying for the role cannot hold dual nationality. You must be a British passport holder and have lived in the UK for at least the last 5 years, as you will be put through security clearance if you haven't already got it.

Key Aspects of the Principal Engineer Role
  • Take charge of and lead project teams delivering electrical control systems, industrial software and electrical safety systems to customers in the defence sector
  • Have first class stakeholder engagement and management skills
  • Current SC level security clearance would be an advantage but isn't essential
  • Initiate, oversee and lead all engineering activities on a project or group of projects
  • Knowledge of working to ISO 9001 standards is key
  • Oversee the activities of the team and help overcome problems by providing guidance
  • Be comfortable working in the defence sector
  • Enjoy a sensible work‑life balance, leaving the office by 4:30 pm daily and having 30 days holiday per year, plus statutory bank holidays
  • Role will initially be based from the Stafford office (3 days per week) and home (2 days per week) with occasional day trips to customer sites
