Contested Probate Solicitor (3+ PQE)

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Contested Probate Solicitor (3+ years PQE) to join our growing Private Client & Litigation team in Altrincham. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in contentious trusts and probate matters, excellent client-care skills, and the ability to manage a busy and complex caseload with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle a varied caseload of contentious probate and trust disputes, including:
- Challenges to the validity of wills
- Claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975
- Executor/beneficiary disputes
- Proprietary estoppel and undue influence claims
- Removal of executors/trustees
- Disputes regarding estate administration and trust management
- Provide clear, strategic advice to clients, often in sensitive and emotionally charged circumstances.
- Draft pleadings, witness statements, settlement agreements and correspondence.
- Manage cases through all stages of the litigation process, including mediation and alternative dispute resolution.
- Work collaboratively with the wider Private Client, Dispute Resolution and Tax teams.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services.
- Contribute to business development activities, including networking, seminars, and marketing initiatives.
Skills & Experience Required
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 3+ years PQE, ideally within contentious probate or commercial litigation
- Strong knowledge of the Inheritance Act, Trusts & Estates law, and relevant civil procedure rules.
- Demonstrable experience of running cases independently and confidently.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Empathetic and professional approach to client care.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
