The post holder will be expected to provide general Radiology services as part of the radiology team, including the provision of consulting and advisory services to clinical colleagues. The post holder will contribute to the rota for daytime acute CT and MRI cover and comply with the department's policy for minimising the number of dropped clinical lists.

Main duties of the job

They will further develop services within the trust and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to maintain the highest standards of care. The proportion of specialist work relative to general radiology provision is open to negotiation.

The appointee will be expected to demonstrate firm involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical Audit, complying with GMC guidelines on good medical practice and Data Protection legislation. All employees must participate in Mandatory Training as required by the Trust.

The post will also include an equitable participation in the general on-call rota. This is currently undertaken on a 1:14 frequency attracting 1 PA, subject to changes in the number of employed radiologists and changes in service provision. This currently attracts Band A on call allowance (3% supplement). Night time CT (after 8pm weekdays, 6pm weekends) is currently outsourced. However, the in‑house radiologist remains on‑call through the night for advice, provision of other modalities and backup in case of IT failure.

3.3 Productivity

Clinical time is allocated in sessions and consultants are expected to ensure optimum utilisation of the sessions allocated to them, with both time and productivity.

Responsibility may be subject to change, as required by the needs of the service.
