Job summary

A reputable health services provider in Coventry is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join their new Community Eating Disorders and Day Treatment role. The position includes providing clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team while contributing to research initiatives. The successful candidate will attend team meetings, conduct patient assessments, and manage new patient admissions in a developing service. Qualifications

  • GMC registration and inclusion on the specialist register in Mental Health or Specialty Trainees within 6 months of completing CCT.
  • A postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry e.g. Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
  • Eligible for Approved Clinician status and Approval under section 12 of the Mental Health Act.

Responsibilities

  • Run regular clinics for new patient assessments and follow up.

Job description

Join us as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Community Eating Disorders and Day Treatment. This is a new post which will be split between the newly established Complex Eating Disorders Service and the new Day Service, working alongside three other consultants.

The community role will involve direct clinical care and providing clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team (MDT) which includes specialist nurses, nurse therapists, clinical psychologist, dietitians, occupational therapists, social workers and peer support workers.

The Day Treatment Service role will involve direct clinical care and providing clinical leadership to a multi-disciplinary team. The Day Treatment Service is currently in development and staffing of the MDT is to be finalised. There will be access to input from the Acute Mental Health Services Duty Resident Doctor when required.

Main duties of the job

In the community role, you will attend team meetings, formal multi-disciplinary reviews and case conferences, informal patient reviews and professionals' discussions. Running regular clinics for new patient assessments and follow up.

In the Day Treatment Service role, you will lead ward rounds, team meetings, formal multidisciplinary reviews, and case conferences. Be responsible for new patient admission assessments and work closely with the multidisciplinary team to plan, deliver and review treatment. Liaison with referrers and the West Midlands Provider Collaborative will be required to plan admission and discharge.
