A large NHS Trust in the UK is seeking a clinical academic consultant to work with the cystic fibrosis team, engage in research, and contribute to patient care in paediatric respiratory medicine at their facility in Manchester. Applicants should have relevant postgraduate qualifications and be eligible for specialist registration. Teaching and research experience are key aspects of this role.
This substantive post involves working with the general respiratory and cystic fibrosis teams at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (RMCH), supporting children throughout the Northwest. It is an exciting opportunity to be part of a progressive respiratory department at RMCH, which manages complex respiratory patients within the region and quaternary patients within specific sub-specialties. We specifically envisage that the post holder will contribute to our large cystic fibrosis centre and regional CF care across the North West of England, further developing our hospital as a national and international centre of excellence for CF clinical care and research.
We are particularly keen to attract a clinical academic consultant into our CF team, and have the potential for local funding to replace some of the current job planned clinical PAs with funded research time for up to 3 years. This would support the post holder in applying for ongoing research funding thereafter. We would encourage interested applicants to discuss directly with Dr Shawcross as to the specifics of their individual job plan, if appointed, if this would be of interest.
