Job Summary

University Hospitals Sussex (USH) values its pharmacy team and is offering an exciting new Consultant Pharmacist progression post. The role will lead and innovate across the four domains of Clinical Practice, Leadership, Education, and Research. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing specialist pharmacy services to optimise patient outcomes, share expertise across the local health economy, and contribute to high‑impact research through collaboration with Higher Education Institutions.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a specialist critical care pharmacy service, optimising patient outcomes and improving the patient experience across sectors and healthcare boundaries.
  • Lead, undertake, supervise and publish high‑impact research in critical care therapies and service models.
  • Contribute to health outcomes using a holistic approach to care, ensuring safe and effective use of medicines.
  • Promote improvements in quality, safety, and cost‑effectiveness of medicine use, influencing the wider community of practice.
  • Act as a mentor and role model for clinical pharmacists, managers, and leaders.
  • Use innovation to support patient outcomes, safety and experience aligned with national agendas.
  • Deliver education and training in critical care for pharmacy and other healthcare professionals across the health economy and for the university.
  • Lead and role‑model in the field locally, regionally and nationally.
  • Provide dedicated sessions to higher education institutes once trained.
  • Ultimately fulfil the role of Consultant Pharmacist in Critical Care as described in the Department of Health guidance.
Qualifications
  • Qualified pharmacist with substantial experience.
