A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist for a full-time role at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. Job summary

This is a new, full time (10 PA) Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist post based at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC).

We wish to appoint a paediatric/adult trained Clinical Neurophysiologist with expertise in Children\'s Epilepsy Surgery Service (CESS) and preferably Stereoelectroencephalography EEG (SEEG), to join the current team of one adult/paediatric trained Clinical Neurophysiologist in BRHC to meet increased demand on the service to perform Stereo Electroencephalography (SEEG). We are one of four centres nationally designated to deliver CESS service.

The post also includes paediatric and adult outpatient clinic, diagnostic reporting, inpatient diagnostics, participation in MDT and participation in the city wide on call EEG reporting rota.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work with the existing consultant to take a central role in the CESS MDT and proven expertise in paediatric epilepsy is essential, in particular, experience in the field of epilepsy surgery; review of Video EEG and the subsequent production of reports is essential and SEEG expertise is desirable, though the minimum requirement is a commitment to learn SEEG. Experience of Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) and Electromyography (EMG) in a paediatric and adult populations is essential, but the balance of paediatric and adult general work in the job plan could be reviewed upon appointment.

Qualifications & Training – Essential

  • Fully registered with GMC. Certification of completion of specialist training (CCT) (or equivalent, OR Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) at the point of interview
  • Candidates can be within 6 months of gaining CCT at the date of interview. Please note this does not apply to CESR applications
