Construction Solicitor

Salary: £48,000 – £60,000 (DOE) + Bonus

Location: Manchester (other locations available) (Hybrid Working Supported)

Experience: 3+ years’ PQE (Construction Law)

Are you ready to join a market-leading, award-winning law firm with a people-focused culture and a reputation for excellence? Our client’s Construction Team in Preston is seeking a talented Solicitor (Associate/Senior Associate) with proven construction law experience to manage a varied caseload and play a key role in the team’s growth and development.

The Opportunity
  • Manage a busy caseload of construction matters, both contentious and non-contentious, with immediate responsibility for existing work
  • Advise clients across the construction industry, including contractors, developers, architects, engineers, local councils, and homeowners
  • Draft, review, and negotiate construction documentation (contracts, professional appointments, collateral warranties, bonds, guarantees, etc.)
  • Advise on JCT, NEC, IChemE, and FIDIC contracts, as well as procurement and risk management
  • Handle disputes: breach of contract, delay & disruption, loss & expense, adjudication, arbitration, and litigation in the Technology & Construction Court
  • Collaborate with colleagues across service lines (commercial property, corporate, commercial)
  • Support, supervise, and develop junior team members
  • Contribute to business development, knowledge sharing, and team objectives
  • Write blogs/LinkedIn posts and participate in client training or seminars (optional)
What We’re Looking For
  • Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 3 years’ PQE in construction law
  • Experience managing own caseload with minimal supervision
  • Strong technical expertise in both contentious and non-contentious construction matters (desirable)
  • Knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts (desirable)
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and communication skills
  • Commercially aware, proactive, and confident in client-facing situations
  • Proven business development ability and track record of building networks
  • Ability to collaborate and support team development
