Overview

Are you artistic, creative or looking to get involved in something different? Are you looking to learn new practical skills and apply them creatively? Want to experience working as part of a team on a lasting project?

We are looking for a group of people who have artistic flair! The pilot mural project offers the opportunity to transform a space into something vibrant. The program offers the opportunity to prepare a space, be part of the design process right through to producing a finished piece of art on a permanent fixture.

What you will gain

Learn about The Canal & River Trust, our dedication to the waterways, environment and health & safety working near water. Gain experience in construction, painting, woodwork, vegetation. Learn new skills and techniques in using equipment. Become involved in the design process through guided practical sessions with an experienced artist.

The program will run through summer 2025 starting late July. There are 6 places available. To find out more apply today to be shortlisted for an interview.

This is a great opportunity to make a huge difference in your community whilst learning more about the canals in your area.

What you’ll be doing
  • Day to day maintenance

  • Environmental enhancements such as hedgelaying
  • Creating new access points by building or improved steps or ramps
  • When you register as a volunteer, we will ask you about any unspent convictions which you need to declare and risk assess these as needs be.
