Job Overview

Community Wellbeing Mentor – part‑time (22.2 hours a week) role based in Leatherhead, Surrey, with travel across Waverley, Woking, Surrey Heath and Spelthorne. The position sits within the Surrey Community Wellbeing Team (CWT) covering Waverley, Woking, Surrey Heath and Spelthorne. This role is designed to support young people (6‑18 years old) who are experiencing low emotional health and wellbeing, providing early intervention and support through a hybrid model of face‑to‑face and virtual sessions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a rolling caseload of up to 8 children and young people, delivering early intervention and support for emotional health challenges such as loneliness, anxiety, low mood and stress.
  • Implement a solution‑focused, strength‑based approach to improve emotional wellbeing and resilience.
  • Co‑facilitate the B‑Connected 6‑week courses in schools, covering topics such as anxiety, emotional literacy, confidence, friendships/relationships, low mood and resilience.
  • Work within the CWT Thrive Framework, using relational and trauma‑informed practice, and collaborate with multi‑agency partners.
  • Provide training on the Thrive model at the start of employment and deliver ongoing supervision, external clinical supervision, and learning days each year.
  • Advise and develop pathways for sustainable, long‑term improvement of the young person after CWT support has ended.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous experience working with, and supporting, children and young people in an intervention setting.
  • Experience in planning, delivering and evaluating 1:1 and group wellbeing interventions, including risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of how to work within a trauma‑informed framework and familiarity with safeguarding procedures.
  • Strong ability to engage and communicate with children, families, schools and other professionals.
  • Excellent time‑management, organisational, numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel across the Surrey area (vehicle insurance must include business use).
Location and Travel

The role is based in Leatherhead, Surrey. You must be able to work from home and travel to the CWT locations within Waverley, Woking, Surrey Heath and Spelthorne. Access to a vehicle and a valid driving licence are essential.
