Community Staff Nurse

Join Nottinghamshire's Community Nursing teams and make a difference! Whether you have community experience or not, we welcome you to be part of our supportive and highly encouraging team.

As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, full‑time, you'll work 8am – 6pm, seven days a week, with flexibility. An additional team of nurses and HCAs provides a reactive evening and night nursing team.

Main duties of the job

You will provide skilled nursing care and support the team to deliver high‑quality integrated care. Essential skills include communication, interpersonal, adaptability, reliability, resourcefulness, and approachability.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver integrated care following a holistic assessment to enable patients to be cared for in their own homes and clinic settings.
  • Prevent unnecessary hospital admission/re‑admission by reducing the effects of ill health and disability and maximizing independence.
  • Implement, promote, and evaluate safe, creative and effective treatment plans in collaboration with patients, carers, and other professionals.
  • Deliver evidence‑based interventions and manage medication safely.
  • Work autonomously to build leadership and advanced clinical assessment skills.
  • Build effective relationships with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Apply exceptional planning, organisational, and clinical decision‑making skills.
  • Be trained in palliative care, leg ulcer management, acute and chronic wound care, bladder and bowel dysfunction, and supportive care for carers.
  • Delegate and support junior staff, building leadership skills.

Required: Full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use; reasonable adjustments for disabled individuals will be provided in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Applicants are required to pay for their DBS check. The cost of the DBS application (£26.40 standard or £54.40 enhanced) will be deducted from salary over the first two months of employment. The DBS Update Service fee is £16 per year.

Qualification
  • Professional Qualification (RGN) to degree level or equivalent.

  • Satisfactory clinical expertise for the banding.
  • Specialist and area‑specific experience.
Contractual
