Community Midwife for Equitable Health

A Vacancy at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals are pleased to announce an opportunity for a community midwife service on the East Coast. The role will provide personalised antenatal and postnatal care to women and birthing people who experience vulnerabilities. The aim is to improve health equity in the Scarborough region. Our ambition is to address health inequalities through targeted Community Midwifery support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver personalised care to a caseload that includes asylum‑seeking individuals, teenage pregnancies, drug and alcohol misuse, significant safeguarding concerns and those in prison.
  • Implement the maternity disadvantage tool, develop local policy and guidance, and demonstrate impact on the community through audit.
  • Build close working relationships with key stakeholders and specialists, including the MDT, Social Care for Adults and Children, Safeguarding Leads and other key services.
  • Act as a pivotal driver in an ambitious 3‑year plan, contributing to the Trust’s commitment to maternity transformation and positively impacting the communities of York and Scarborough.
  • Support service development and improvement through student support, MDT working and knowledge sharing.
