A leading organization supporting dementia awareness is seeking volunteers to help raise awareness and strengthen community links. You will work flexibly in various locations throughout the South London borough, promoting understanding of dementia and supporting those affected. Excellent communication skills and a friendly approach are essential. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a difference in their community.
Help us to extend our reach!
We are here for anyone affected by dementia and are keen to reach people in all communities, including those who may be more at risk of isolation through language, accessibility needs, identity or background.
You’ll play a crucial role in building and strengthening community links and raising awareness of the services we have available. You’ll take part in events and talk to groups to raise awareness of dementia and to identify people affected by dementia who can share their dementia story with their wider community as well as with us. You’ll also signpost people to access our services.
This is a Merton-based role, and the volunteer will work in different locations throughout the South London borough. If you have an interest in raising awareness of dementia with a particular religious, ethnic or cultural group where you have lived experience, this would be helpful but is not a requirement. There is a lot of freedom within this role to put forward ideas and network, but you will be supported throughout by, and work closely with, the Dementia Friendly Communities Coordinator.
