Overview

Community Gardener & Maintenance Worker. Job Ref: K&C 5275270. £15.82 per hour PAYE. Initial contract for 3 months.

Role

We are seeking a Community Gardener & Maintenance Worker. You may have some experience with gardening, landscaping, or outdoor maintenance, but more importantly you’re practical, reliable, and confident carrying out physical work in all weather conditions. From clearing and fixing to lifting and tidying, you’ll take pride in keeping shared spaces safe, welcoming, and well cared for. You’ll bring a positive, respectful attitude when working alongside residents, volunteers, and colleagues, and you’ll be open to learning through training in areas such as manual handling and health and safety.

Key duties
  • Carry out physically demanding gardening and maintenance tasks (e.g. digging, lifting, clearing, moving heavy items, basic repairs)
  • Support the delivery of community gardening sessions and volunteer activities
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and outdoor areas in a safe and functional condition
  • Assist in transforming neglected or overgrown areas into usable green spaces
  • Engage with residents and community groups to support participation in garden-related activity
  • Follow all relevant health and safety procedures and complete required training (e.g. manual handling)
