Leisure & Communities Division

£26,403 - £28,142 per annum, 37 hours per week, Fixed-Term Contract up to 3 years, with possible extension

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Communities Team at North Warwickshire Borough Council as a Community Engagement Officer.

We are looking for a passionate, outgoing individual to work with colleagues, partners and local people to support environmental sustainability.

This is a people-centred role, seeking to reduce waste, boost recycling, and inspire colleagues, Councillors, and local residents to adapt more sustainable behaviours.

The role will work directly with a variety of people, helping them to understand why and how they can make positive change. You will need to be approachable and creative, thinking about innovative ways to engage different audiences. You will need to use data and feedback to target specific geographical areas and population cohorts, with the ability to capture progress and success.

Our Communities Section has an excellent reputation supporting local communities through events, working with town centre partnerships, supporting local sports clubs, engaging local partners, and improving green spaces and play areas. We are looking for someone who will work with the Team and continue to make a real difference in the communities of North Warwickshire.

Responsibilities
  • Appointment to this post will be conditional upon receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of criminal records via the Disclosure and Barring Service, before the appointment is confirmed. A Basic check will be required. This will contain details of convictions and conditional cautions considered to be ‘unspent’ under the terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to be flexible, occasionally working evenings and weekends as required.
  • The role involves working with colleagues, partners and local people to support environmental sustainability, reduce waste, boost recycling and engage diverse audiences.
  • You will be expected to use data and feedback to target specific geographical areas and population cohorts, with the ability to capture progress and success.
  • Work with the Team to continue to make a real difference in the communities of North Warwickshire.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Experience or willingness to engage with community groups, events and local partners to support environmental sustainability initiatives.
  • Ability to be approachable and creative in engaging different audiences and using data to inform outreach.
  • Flexible approach, with potential for evening and weekend work as required.
