A local government authority in Doncaster is seeking a Community Engagement Officer to support community-centric initiatives. This part-time role involves planning events, driving communications, and representing the council at community meetings. The ideal candidate will have experience in event management and social media, strong organizational skills, and the ability to engage diverse audiences. This rewarding position offers the chance to make a significant impact in the community and requires flexibility for evening and weekend work.
Part-time (20 hours per week, flexible evenings/weekends).
Salary: SCP 24–28 (£35,412 - £39,152 pro-rata).
Location: Rossington Memorial Hall, Doncaster.
This new post plays a key role in supporting the Parish Council’s vision for an inclusive, connected, and thriving parish. Working closely with the Clerk, RFO and Councillors, you will lead planning and delivery of community focused events – from the Easter Extravaganza to youth and summer programmes. Your expertise in event management will ensure these activities run smoothly, meet health and safety requirements, and create lasting impact for the community.
Alongside events, you will drive the Parish Councils communications and engagement work – utilising digital platforms, shaping council publications such as the Parish Magazine and Newsletter, and promoting civic initiatives through networking and partnership working. You will also act as the Parish Council’s representative at meetings with schools, wellbeing groups, and community organisations, supporting residents and local groups in accessing funding opportunities.
Confidence using tools like WordPress, MS365, and social media is important, along with the ability to write clearly and persuasively for different audiences.
