Job summary

A community support organisation is seeking an Energy Advisor to provide outreach sessions and practical advice to households in the Selby and Goole areas. This home-based role requires excellent communication skills and experience in community work, helping vulnerable households save on energy bills. The position offers flexibility in hours and a salary of £27,334 (pro rata).

Qualifications

• Educated to NVQ level 4 or equivalent or 2 years experience in a community support type role.
• Experience of community work and the voluntary sector.
• Experience of directly engaging and advising vulnerable households.

Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team for the winter!

You will be supporting households to save money on their energy and water bills through 1-2-1 advice and by attending community outreach events. The role will be home-based but will involve some travelling to community venues in and around the Selby & Goole areas.

Responsibilities

• Deliver energy outreach sessions to community groups through drop-ins, hosting information stands and/or giving energy saving talks
• Provide 1-2-1 practical advice and support to help households reduce their energy bills and be safe, warm and well.
• Act on behalf of a client with third party organisations where necessary (e.g. by speaking to energy suppliers, Yorkshire Water etc).

Qualifications

• Educated to NVQ level 4 or equivalent or 2 years experience in a community support type role
• Experience of community work and the voluntary sector
• Experience of directly engaging and advising vulnerable households
• Ability to work independently and manage own workload
• Ability to empathise with others and respond to people with a diversity of needs
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent written skills

Salary: £27,334 (pro rata)

Hours: 15 hours per week (Mon to Fri, 9am to 5pm). There is flexibility in terms of when the hours can be worked during the week and there will be an expectation that they are adjusted in line with community groups/events etc

Contract type: Fixed term contract (end date: 31st March 2026)

Location: Home-based positions with some travel required in and around the Selby and Goole areas
