About the Opportunity

MDE UK is working in partnership with a global clean energy technology provider delivering large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) across utility and commercial projects. Due to continued growth and an expanding international project pipeline, we are looking to appoint an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support installation, commissioning, and ongoing technical support of energy storage assets.

This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge grid-scale energy storage projects, collaborating closely with international engineering, R&D, and product teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out installation and commissioning of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in line with technical procedures and safety standards
• Perform system debugging, fault diagnosis, and troubleshooting, restoring energy storage systems to full operational status
• Support system start-up, testing, FAT/SAT activities, and site acceptance processes
• Prepare and review site commissioning plans, schedules, and technical documentation
• Coordinate on-site commissioning activities alongside project managers, site leaders, and subcontractors
• Complete technical modifications, upgrades, and maintenance activities as directed by the site lead
• Provide clear commissioning reports and feedback to engineering and project teams
• Work closely with international product and R&D teams, ensuring alignment with system design and performance expectations

Experience & Qualifications

• 2-3+ years’ experience commissioning Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or similar power systems
• Strong background in electrical engineering, power electronics, or energy storage systems
• Experience working on utility-scale or commercial energy infrastructure projects
• Relevant site and safety certifications preferred, including:
• CSCS
• IOSH/NEBOSH
• SMSTS
• HV/LV electrical certification or authorisation is highly advantageous

Skills & Competencies

• Strong hands-on commissioning and fault-finding capability
• Comfortable working in site-based, field environments with long-term travel requirements
• Strong communication skills and ability to work within multidisciplinary and international teams
• Competent in Microsoft Office and technical reporting
• Detail-oriented, safety-focused, and process-driven
• Willingness to follow company procedures and site leadership direction
