Senior Commercial Project Manager – Major Energy Infrastructure Projects

AVA Energy are working with a major UK energy investor to appoint a Senior Commercial Project Manager to support a growing portfolio of new-build CCGT power projects (CCUS-ready), alongside hydrogen developments.

This is a permanent, senior appointment offering the opportunity to play a leading role in the commercial delivery of some of the UK’s most significant energy investment programmes, with individual projects valued at £2–4bn.

You will take ownership of the commercial project management function across major investment projects, leading commercial managers and acting as the key interface between project delivery, finance, procurement, legal, and tendering teams.

Key responsibilities include :

• Leading commercial PM activities across EPCs, OEMs, and strategic partners
• Establishing and managing contracts, commercial frameworks, and claims strategies
• Managing project financials, risk, and governance across large-scale infrastructure builds
• Supporting business case development, negotiations, and progression through FID
• Working closely with project controls and cost control teams
• Translating commercial and financial models into executable construction strategies
• Engaging confidently with tier‑one contractors on complex construction programmes

Experience required :

• Proven experience as a Senior Commercial Project Manager on major infrastructure or power projects
• Strong background in new‑build construction within power generation, Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial sectors
• Comfortable operating at £500m+ to multi‑£bn project values
• Extensive experience with EPC and OEM contracting, claims, and project controls
• Commercially strong, with a practical understanding of technical and construction requirements
• Backgrounds from EPCs, developers, OEMs, or Owner’s Engineer consultancies
• Experience in Carbon Capture or hydrogen is beneficial but not essential; power plant commercial experience is key
