BTV operates within the 54Group, an international sports and entertainment agency working across five regions and eight offices. 54 is built on three service areas – Strategic Advisory, Asset Optimisation, and Activation & Engagement – and collaborates with leading rights holders, brands, and investors to realise the power of sport.

Role Overview

We are seeking a driven and commercially minded Commercial Manager to lead the sales and business development function at Behind the Volt. This is a key client‑facing role focused on identifying new opportunities, building long‑term partnerships, and driving growth across the full spectrum of BTV’s services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a pipeline of qualified leads, owning client relationships, delivering against revenue targets, and promoting the BTV proposition to both existing and new markets. You’ll work across sports, entertainment, experiential activations, and global live events – tailoring technical and creative solutions to meet the unique needs of every brief.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Sales Strategy & Business Development:

  • Lead the development and execution of the BTV sales strategy in collaboration with the Leadership team
  • Identify, target, and convert new business opportunities across sectors including sports, festivals, conferences, exhibitions, brand activations, and broadcast
  • Build a strong and qualified pipeline through proactive outreach, networking, referrals, and strategic prospecting
  • Manage inbound opportunities and RFP responses with clarity, pace, and attention to detail
  • Create, prepare and deliver compelling sales proposals, pitch decks, and commercial presentations in collaboration with the creative and operations teams

Client Relationship Management:

  • Own and grow key client relationships, acting as the primary commercial point of contact from pitch to delivery
  • Work consultatively to understand client objectives and tailor BTV’s offerings across:
    • Consultancy (Strategy, Design and Planning)
    • Networks & Infrastructure (Information, E‑Sport/Broadcast, Converged)
    • Digital (Displays, Interactive, Broadcast Visuals)
    • Lighting (Projection Mapping, Lasers, Scenic Lighting)
    • Special Effects (Pyrotechnics, Activations, Atmospheric Enhancements)
  • Lead commercial negotiation, contract development, and deal closure
  • Ensure clients are supported with exceptional service and proactive solution design

Commercial Performance & Reporting:

  • Track and report on sales performance against quarterly and annual targets
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and sector opportunities
  • Collaborate with finance to develop accurate forecasting and budget alignment
  • Represent BTV at sport and industry events, trade shows, and client meetings
Special Skills / Experience / Aptitudes Needed
  • 5+ years in a commercial, sales, or business development role in live events, experiential, broadcast, or creative technology sectors
  • Demonstrated success in selling complex, multi‑service event solutions (e.g. production, technical, creative, digital content)
  • B2B sales experience with existing contacts within the sports Industry
  • Confident presenting and pitching to senior decision‑makers and stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of live event ecosystems and client needs across sport, entertainment, and broadcast
  • Experience managing the end‑to‑end sales cycle from lead generation to deal closure
  • Ability to translate complex technical capabilities into clear, engaging client solutions
  • Skilled in CRM systems (Salesforce preferable), pipeline management, and commercial reporting
  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial, and solution‑oriented mindset
  • Technical knowledge of BTV's business, or ability to understand it
