At Octopus EV, our Salary Sacrifice Commercial Insights team is the engine that transforms data into strategy for our Salary Sacrifice product. We are a small, dynamic group responsible for using in-depth analysis to unlock business growth and improve profitability for our market-leading salary sacrifice product.

We tackle complex and critical commercial questions—from optimising our pricing and product mix to identifying new opportunities. Our work directly informs strategic decisions and activities across the business, putting you at the heart of how we scale and innovate.

Simply put, we turn analysis into action, helping Octopus EV stay ahead in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle landscape.

The role is based in Central London and you would be expected to be in the office a minimum of 3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • As a key member of the Commercial Insights team, you will be a strategic partner, driving data-driven decisions that shape the future of our Octopus EV salary sacrifice product. You will lead end-to-end analysis projects, often working across multiple concurrent initiatives. Your core responsibilities will include:
  • Lead strategic analysis: Own and deliver commercial analysis projects that identify new opportunities, optimise performance, and solve key business challenges related to our EV salary sacrifice offering.
  • Generate data-driven insights: Analyse complex datasets to develop and test hypotheses, uncovering and surfacing actionable insights on areas including conversion, pricing strategies, product mix and customer behaviour.
  • Drive business performance: Translate your analysis into clear, strategic recommendations aimed at improving key commercial metrics and driving performance.
  • Build analytical tools: Design and build commercial models, dashboards, and other analytical tools that embed data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
  • Challenge the status quo: Use data to proactively identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement within our current processes and product offerings, supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Communicate effectively: Develop compelling presentations and documents to communicate complex findings and recommendations to senior leaders and cross-functional teams. Coach team members to improve their communication skills.
  • Collaborate broadly: Work closely with stakeholders across the business, including Marketing, Growth, Product, and Operations, to understand their needs and deliver targeted, impactful insights.
  • Support strategic growth: Contribute to high-level strategic projects, such as market entry strategies or potential acquisitions, providing the necessary data and commercial perspective.
Who you are
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a commercial insights, corporate strategy, or strategy consulting role
  • Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to structure and solve complex, unstructured business problems using strategic frameworks and data.
  • Quantitative Skills: Strong analytical and quantitative abilities, including a high degree of proficiency in developing robust Excel/Google Sheets models. Proficiency in SQL experience is highly desirable.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication and "storytelling" skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives for a variety of audiences.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Curiosity & Resilience: A proactive mindset, a desire to challenge assumptions, and a comfort with navigating ambiguity and working with limited or imperfect data.
  • Industry Interest: A demonstrable passion for clean energy, EVs, and the broader energy transition.
