Commercial Disputes Lawyer – Plymouth – 3+ Years PQE

Location: Plymouth (Hybrid: minimum 2 days office)

Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time

Salary: £55,000 to £75,000 (depending on experience)

A leading national law firm is seeking an experienced Commercial Disputes Lawyer (3+ PQE) to join its fast growing alternative legal services division within its Plymouth office. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a high-performing, innovative team delivering complex litigation and high-volume workstreams for major household name clients across retail, utilities, technology, government, financial services and online marketplaces.

The Role
  • Defending small claims, fast track, intermediate track and multi-track matters
  • Drafting acknowledgements of service, defences, witness statements and applications
  • Handling set aside, strike out and summary judgment applications
  • Preparing bundles, statements of costs and instructions to counsel
  • Managing injunction applications, appeals and enforcement (including HCEO instructions, Charging Orders and Attachment of Earnings Orders)
  • Conducting ADR, including telephone mediations and without prejudice negotiations
  • Taking a commercial, pragmatic approach to settlement
  • Working closely with senior lawyers, paralegals, project managers and legal technologists to deliver efficient, tech enabled services
  • Potentially supervising paralegals and/or managing dedicated workstreams depending on experience
  • Will join a collaborative team of 8 lawyers and around 25 paralegals, supporting a wide range of disputes such as fraud, overcharging, data breach claims, discrimination, defective goods, missed appointments, KYC disputes, withheld funds, and more.
Candidate Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years' PQE in commercial litigation, insolvency, insurance or similar disputes work
  • Experience supervising at least one team member
  • Strong technical litigation skills and confidence handling complex and volume matters
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A proactive, commercially minded approach
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment and attend the Plymouth office at least twice weekly
