The opportunity

Bloomsbury is seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Commercial Analyst with attention to detail. This FTC position will play a key role in supporting the Senior Commercial Analyst with on‑going project work and more broadly in providing insight and data for the Academic & Professional Division as required.

The role
  • Support on‑going project work by managing and updating large datasets with a high level of accuracy and communicating progress clearly to relevant stakeholders.
  • Analyse data strategically, create and dashboards, and conduct in‑depth data analysis to address critical business queries.
  • Transform raw data into actionable information that can support our business queries with data‑driven answers and compelling narratives.
  • Collect and analyse sales data across formats, regions, and categories.
  • Define, track and report on KPIs determined in consultation with management.
  • Build relationships (both virtually and in person) and manage stakeholders within a matrix business.
  • Provide ad‑hoc analysis and projects across the Division.
Knowledge skills and experience
  • Pro‑active self‑starter with a mature and organised approach who can work independently.
  • Experience in book publishing is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to bring numbers alive to non‑finance staff.
  • Numerate and strong on detail.
  • Confident to challenge the status quo.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (IF statements, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, SUMIFS).
Additional information

Salary: £36,000 - £42,500 per annum

The role is a full‑time 12‑month fixed‑term contract position to start as soon as possible.

The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London WC1B 3DP on a hybrid‑working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred). Allocated office days are Wednesdays / Thursdays.
