Colorectal and Stoma Care Clinical Nurse Specialist

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Rotherham Foundation Trust for a Clinical Nurse Specialist Band 6 within the already established Colorectal and Stoma Care nursing team. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist you will act as an advocate for patient care, providing seamless and timely management for patients who are diagnosed with a Lower Gastrointestinal Cancer and those having surgical intervention for inflammatory bowel disease. This fast paced and varied role requires an individual who shows a methodical approach to patient assessment who will work alongside the Band 7 CNS and the wider team to support patients, providing an individualised plan of care, delivering a high-quality service and ensure the service is accessible and available to give advice and clinical expertise to both patients and other health care professionals. We are looking for an individual to work alongside the existing team, who is caring and shows enthusiasm. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively with both patients and the wider MDT whilst working cohesively within the Clinical Nurse Specialist Team. This unique opportunity requires you to be committed, organised and an excellent communicator both verbal and written. You must be able to work both independently and as part of a team. We are keen to invite to interview Nurses who encompass the above and meet the essential criteria in the person specification.

Main duties of the job

The main purpose of the role will be to provide personalised support for patients diagnosed with a Lower Gastrointestinal Cancer. The ideal candidate will be an experienced nurse working at Band 5/6 with a keen interest in Cancer services. You must be able to show the ability to provide specialist holistic support and treatment whilst coordinating services and personalising the cancer pathway for patients from diagnosis, through treatment. You will work closely with the wider team and must be able to forge good working relations. Be able to provide essential data/audit collection to the Band 7 CNS and be able to present this information as requested to others. Act as an advocate for patient care, be able to liaise with multiple professionals across both TRFT and other partners. We would welcome informal discussion with all candidates prior to application/interview.
