CNC Technician
Location: Tewkesbury

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000
Reports To: Shift Supervisor & Engineering Manager
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Technician to join our Production team. This is a production‑led role with a strong focus on supporting Engineering in the introduction of new products (NPI) and improving existing machining processes. You will act as the on‑shift technical authority, providing hands‑on support, problem solving, coaching, and process optimisation across a multi‑axis CNC machining environment.
Working closely with Production and Engineering, you will help ensure that all engineering requirements are fully realised, implemented, and continuously improved‑driving quality, efficiency, and machine utilisation.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform NPI setups and ensure smooth introduction of new products
- Apply process improvements to optimise productivity and efficiency
- Make approved edits to CNC programs and CAM files in line with engineering requirements
- Provide technical support and leadership to setter‑operators on shift
- Coach and mentor machinists to improve capability and consistency
- Ensure safe and efficient running of shift equipment, following best practices
- Identify and resolve machining issues using structured problem‑solving techniques
- Maximise machine utilisation while maintaining quality and compliance
- Self‑inspect work using precision measurement tools
- Support the Control of Non‑Conforming Outputs process (QP‑009) and raise NCRs as required
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production and Quality to support continuous improvement activities
Skills & Knowledge Required
- Extensive knowledge of CNC machine capabilities, control languages, tooling and production processes
- Strong understanding of materials, tolerances, and quality standards (GD&T essential)
- Proficient in CAD/CAM – ideally HyperMill for programming and SolidWorks for modelling
- Confident editing CNC programs and working with multi‑axis machinery
- Ability to measure, self‑inspect and verify critical dimensions
- Strong knowledge of programming codes and machining principles
- Capable of coaching and developing teams in a precision machining environment
- Understanding of process change management and production planning
Experience & Qualifications
- Time‑served apprenticeship with qualifications in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Significant hands‑on CNC machining experience (multi‑axis preferred)
- Strong background working with complex, difficult‑to‑machine materials
- Proven capability in precision engineered components
- Previous New Product Introduction (NPI) experience (preferred but not essential)
