Salary: Up to £43,000 per annum (Including shift allowance)

Shift: Double Days (6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm)

CNC Miller Role

The CNC Miller will support production by ensuring CNC machining processes for aluminium components are optimised, reliable, and efficient. This hands-on role is responsible for proving new programs, commissioning fixtures and tooling, troubleshooting machining issues, and ensuring safe, standardised working practices. You will liaise with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to address daily challenges while also mentoring and training setter/operators across the shift pattern.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain 5-axis CNC machines, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Prove new CNC programs and commission fixtures and cutting tools.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose machine faults, clamping, tooling, and fixture issues.
  • Monitor dimensional reports, adjust offsets, and improve process capability.
  • Track tool life, investigate tool breakages, and maintain hydraulic fixture operation.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including SWIs.
  • Drive TPM and 5S initiatives to improve safety and efficiency.
  • Train, mentor, and guide setter/operators on safe and correct machine use.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Maintenance to resolve process issues.
CNC Miller Essentials
  • Apprentice served or formally certified in CNC machining.
  • Proven CNC machine setting experience in JIT production environments.
  • Skilled in 5-axis high-speed machining of aluminium.
  • Competence in G & M code programming (preferably Siemens controls).
  • Strong understanding of tooling and fixture design principles.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and process improvement skills.
  • Experience delivering operator training.
