Machinist – CNC Operator (Luton, LU1 3LD, UK)

WF Tech is delighted to represent a global leader in industrial pumps and motors. We are seeking an experienced Machinist – CNC Operator to join their team.

Shift Pattern and Compensation

Double day shift (alternating earlies and lates weekly), 37‑hour workweek.

  • Early Shift – Mon – Thu 06:00 – 14:; Fri 06:00 – 12:00
  • Late Shift – Mon – Thu 14:15 – 22:30; Fri 12:00 – 18:00

Salary:

  • Basic Salary: £33,545 per annum
  • Shift Allowance (33%): £11,069.85
  • Total Salary: £44,614.85 per annum (including shift allowance)
About the Company

What You’ll Do
  • Set, program and operate CNC milling or turning machines to produce high‑precision components.
  • Produce parts based on engineering drawings and specifications in a low‑volume production environment.
  • Manufacture or modify tooling, including jigs, fixtures and moulds.
  • Use precision measuring equipment to ensure part accuracy.
  • Collaborate with production teams to meet production targets and timelines.
  • Log work times and maintain compliance using the Epicor ERP system.
  • Actively participate in lean initiatives for continuous improvement.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures to ensure the highest safety standards.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a CNC Machine Operator within engineering.
  • Strong understanding of ISO engineering drawings and ability to machine to tight tolerances.
  • Competent with measuring tools such as micrometres and Vernier callipers.
  • Basic IT skills and experience using ERP systems (Epicor preferred).
  • Knowledge and practical application of 5S principles.
Desirable
  • Time‑served craft apprenticeship.
  • Experience with programming, setting and operating CNC Vertical Mills (Winmax 5, Fanuc controls) or CNC Lathes (Mazatrol, Siemens control).
  • Proactive approach to problem‑solving and process improvement.
