Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham has an exciting opportunity for a CMM Inspector.

  • Full Time Permanent Contract
  • 42 hours per week, 24/7 shift pattern with days and nights.
  • Job location: Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PB.
  • Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union.

Experience in all aspects of inspection methods within the Aerospace Sector desirable.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Use a variety of inspection tools safely and competently
  • Use complex inspection equipment, such as CMM and/or electronic measuring equipment
  • Completing concessions raise NCRs and minor rework forms as required when non-conforming product has been identified
  • Final release of parts to customer signing certificates of conformity
  • To participate in 8D investigations where required
  • Complete first and final inspection of parts
  • Use complex inspection equipment, such as CMM and/or electronic measuring equipment
  • Full inspection for FAI and prove out
  • Interpret, follow and read engineering drawings and SOPs without supervision
  • Directly and proactively suggest improvements to processes particularly with new product introduction within the customer specification
  • Process and make recommendations regarding quality issues
  • Liaise with quality, production and engineering teams to improve quality
  • Support with problem solving root cause and corrective action activities
  • Attend daily SQCDP meetings, and feedback information as required
  • Conduct inspection activities within agreed time scales to meet sales targets
  • Ensure all monitoring and measuring equipment is within calibration before use. Escalate any out of calibration equipment to the inspection team leader
  • Carry out operations safely with regard to own and others safety and dispose of waste correctly
  • Maintain high standards of 6S and directly offer improvements
Position Requirements

Academic:

  • Engineering trade qualification or recognised NVQ at level 3 in machining or inspection, or similar relevant qualification and/or apprenticeship

Experience:

  • Aerospace parts manufacture including treatments
  • Product inspection to drawing
  • Processing of non-conforming parts and completion of NCRs
  • CMM experience
