Overview
We are looking for a Cloud Automation Engineer who will be responsible for the creation of all orchestration flows, flow validation, testing and re-use for all underlying automation components. You will apply Cloud subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and act as a subject matter expert. The Cloud Automation Engineer utilizes consulting skills to accomplish project tasks, including questioning, listening, ideas development, and building personal rapport. The role involves consulting, designing, testing, implementing, managing capability requirements and integrating Cloud solutions into varied environments.
Responsibilities
- Identify, architect, design and implement new automation workflows that meet client requirements and integrate with standard management tools.
- Perform flow and software modification after the solution has been brought into production.
- Install and upgrade infrastructure components.
- Promote standardization and automation during implementation.
- Ensure implementations are aligned with engineering repositories and Portfolio portals.
- Leverage existing implementations, deliverables, and templates to satisfy new work requests.
- Ensure applicable content standards are met.
- Ensure peer review deliverables are logged.
- Store engineering collateral in approved configuration management repositories.
- Produce, review, and participate in Low Level Designs based on High Level Designs and client requirements.
- Ensure projects and tasks are performed with the highest quality and within predefined timelines.
Qualifications
- Degree in computer science, information technology, information systems or electrical engineering or equivalent.
- At least 3 years' experience in an advanced support role or equivalent.
- Customer-facing experience.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Eligible for high-level UK security clearance (where required by the client).
- Technical skills (essential): several years of IT operations and/or engineering experience; Cloud Foundation Automation (Aria Automation, vRA) and Cloud Foundation Operations Orchestrator development experience; Open Text Operations Orchestration and/or Red Hat Ansible development experience; ability to author and deploy automated workflows; XML knowledge; working knowledge of Wintel, Linux, virtualization, networking (TCP/IP, DNS) and database environments; strong ITSM/ITIL understanding; proficient knowledge of DXC workflow tools; MS Office.
- Desirable: experience with Java, Python, Windows PowerShell, Perl, Linux Shell, SQL scripting, VBScript; Active Directory; working knowledge of storage and backup technologies; understanding of networking components including VLANs.
- Personal skills: self-motivated, able to work independently and in coordination with a team; effective communication across technical and non-technical audiences; ability to translate customer, business and functional requirements; analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; time management and ability to work under deadlines.
