Contract type: 12 months FTC (with possibility to extend)

About the role

TVS are working as part of Team Leidos, which is a team of defence and logistics specialists supporting a major contract providing an end to end supply chain service delivering commodity and inventory savings to the UK Ministry of Defence.

We are now recruiting for a R&D Clothing Manager - Textiles at the Team Leidos offices at Emersons Green in Bristol as part of a vibrant and dynamic team, committed to transforming the way the MOD works. This is a 12-month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

Purpose

This role will involve working with the team to manage, develop and deliver new customer requirements of textile clothing. It will also include working with the customer and suppliers at all points of the item development and writing the specification and ensuring they are compliant to the customer's requirements and any relevant legislation. The Clothing Development Manager ensures that relevant technical managers are briefed and aware of new requirements that may be added to their portfolio while also providing customer facing and Industry facing support and guidance with regards to all new developments.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work with the R&D Lead to scope timelines for project completion adherence to the critical path.
  • Undertake the processing of the new requirement of the textile clothing items, working hand in hand with the supplier, including any testing required.
  • Write specification for new products / requirements to include a full technical data pack.
  • Work with Gerber and Corel draw to complete projects and specifications.
  • Complete Research & Development and product trials for new items as required.
  • Assist in management of (receipt, storage, retrieval and maintenance) of patterns and samples held within the Pattern Room.
  • Visit suppliers and relevant industry meeting and exhibitions to maintain and enhance product knowledge.
  • This role will include UK & overseas travel.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous experience in a retail environment, preferably with clothing.
  • Highly motivated with high attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator at all levels.
  • Be proficient in data analysis with a good knowledge and experience of MS Office applications, databases and spreadsheets.
