Overview
Clinical Technologist in Nuclear Medicine. Nuclear Medicine is a recently renovated regional department with three SPECT gamma cameras, two with CT and a modern Radiopharmacy unit, and a recently upgraded Hermes Medical image processing system. Lincoln County Hospital has two SPECT-CT gamma cameras (Siemens Pro-SPECTA and Philips BrightView XCT, SPECT/CT) and one SPECT camera (Siemens Evo). Approximately 4,000 patient imaging procedures (adult and paediatric) are performed per year with a high proportion of bone, renal and cardiac procedures. The post holder will be involved in all routine activities, including radiopharmacy, imaging, non-imaging, image processing, equipment QC, MRT, dispensing and injecting radiopharmaceuticals. This will require flexibility of working hours as start times vary. This is a Monday to Friday service with occasional optional weekend clinics.
Responsibilities
- The post holder will be involved in all routine activities within the Nuclear Medicine Department, including radiopharmacy, imaging, non-imaging, image processing, equipment QC, MRT, dispensing and injecting radiopharmaceuticals.
- Maintain flexibility with working hours as start times vary.
- Perform duties in line with the Nuclear Medicine Department responsibilities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Essential
- BSc Clinical Technology (nuclear medicine) or HND in MPPM (medical physics and physiological measurement)
- Member of the RCT - Register of Clinical Technologists (IPEM)
- Current, in-depth experience in Nuclear Medicine Services
- HPC registered Radiographer (or eligible)
- Desirable
- Higher Degree or equivalent
- Completion of the training scheme for Clinical Technologists specialising in Health Care satisfying IPEM training scheme
- Holder of Immediate Life Support certificate
- Holder of Moving and Handling Training Certificate
Evidence of Knowledge, Skills and Aptitudes
- Essential
- Good IT skills (e.g. spreadsheets and databases)
- Manual dexterity to handle radioactive materials
- Ability to present complex information to a patient
- Able to move/handle patients as required
- Desirable
- European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)
