Job description
Responsibilities
  • Assist the registered nurses in the delivery of high quality patient care and the general wellbeing and comfort of patients.
  • Maintain accurate records of the patient's care, documenting as appropriate in line with Trust, professional and departmental guidelines.
  • Undertake a range of delegated clinical duties relevant to the speciality and your current training and competence profile, as outlined in the clinical competency matrix within the attached job description.
  • Accurately and promptly carry out the instructions of the registered professional who is professionally accountable for the delivery of care.
  • Appropriately support patients with routine personal care needs.
  • Promote privacy and dignity for all patients.
  • Act as a chaperone; accompanying patients during examinations or when requested to provide some support.
  • Assessment of clinic patients, including visual acuity, pressure checks, colour vision checks and observations.

DBS Information

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing a DBS application is met by the successful applicant(s). DBS costs are recovered via salary deduction following commencement in post. The amount may vary based on the level required (Standard Disclosure £21.50 + £6.50 or Enhanced Disclosure £49.50 + £6.50).

The Eye Clinic at Arrowe Park is the largest outpatient department in the hospital, seeing approximately 65,000 patients a year. The role is situated in a busy, fast‑paced environment where excellent communication skills are essential.
