A leading healthcare provider in Malton is seeking a Clinical Specialist Nurse to join the MHSOP team at Springwood. This role focuses on delivering high clinical standards and leading service development for patients with advanced dementia. The ideal candidate will have active Professional Registration and experience in clinical supervision, as well as a deep understanding of mental health issues. This position offers an opportunity to enhance leadership skills and to be an integral part of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team.
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced Clinical Specialist Nurse to work with our dedicated MHSOP team at Springwood. This 12 month secondment/fixed term opportunity is ideal for expanding knowledge and competencies, diversifying professional experience, developing leadership skills or taking on a new challenge.
The successful applicant will become an integral member of our specialised multi-disciplinary team. Springwood is a 14 bedded ward for people living with advanced Dementia and additional frailties, vulnerabilities and behaviours that challenge. Patients are transferred from assessment and treatment wards in North Yorkshire for longer inpatient care; we create highly personalised treatment and moving-on plans with families and carers to promote quality of life and Positive Behaviour Support Plans that follow patients through to transfer into their new homes.
The Clinical Specialist Nurse will take a lead role in delivering a high standard of clinical leadership to the team and maintaining clinical standards in all aspects of care. The role requires a calm, consistent approach to challenging clinical situations, with compassion, creativity and flexibility in delivering care.
The successful applicant will contribute to and lead ongoing service development and change; provide regular clinical supervision to staff and support training and development. The ability to make balanced decisions and use positive risk-taking approaches in high-pressured situations is essential.
Acting as a resource, the post holder will provide specialist advice, training, guidance and consultation to the team and partner agencies, including care homes and care providers. They will be an essential member of the multi-disciplinary team and facilitate coordination of care on a multi-disciplinary basis for patients under our care.
Work will be undertaken with a highly-experienced Ward Manager and Practice Development Practitioner, sharing responsibility for safe staffing, supervision, appraisal and staff support.
The Clinical Specialist Nurse will lead clinical service delivery to patients, families and carers, including supervision of clinicians and participation in collective clinical decision-making. The post holder will provide clinical leadership in assessment, treatment and management of patients with advanced dementia and complex needs.
The post holder will contribute to planning and provision of expert care to patients transferred to the ward, providing evidence-based interventions and promoting safe transfer into the community. They will formulate care plans, positive behaviour support plans and transfer plans with the multidisciplinary team and share complex and confidential information appropriately.
The post holder will support development and delivery of dementia training for staff, improving competence and confidence in line with best practice. They will work with the PDP and Ward Manager to learn from safety events and audits and develop improvement action plans.
